It All Started with a Question…
When Afoa Gus Gale’s then 10 year old son, Jeramyah, asked him why there weren’t any summer sports programs for kids his age and background in the Hume region, the inspiration behind BridgingWorx was born.
With some help from the Rugby League Club committee and a handful of passionate volunteers, a successful 6 week Summer Touch rugby program for children and young people in the area aged between 5 and 21 years was facilitated. Almost 250 children and young people took part in the program, with all proceeds donated back into the local club.
BridgingWorx Incorporated was officially founded soon after in Broadmeadows, Victoria in 2010 with hopes of bringing more community-led programs to life supporting Pacific & Maori Youth in education and sport .
Since then, BridgingWorx has gone on to offer free youth mentoring in primary and secondary schools and continues to support various community development programs, events and fundraisers that align with our values and mission.
